Controls Research Scientist to join our exceptional team. In this
role you will support optical and directed energy programs by
performing research, analysis, design and development of control
systems algorithms and software. Some areas of responsibility
include: • Wavefront control and adaptive optics • Advanced control
and stabilization concepts • Jitter/beamwalk control • Target
detection, tracking, and filtering We are seeking someone who
demonstrates genuine interest in these subjects and who is eager to
be mentored by a respected expert in the field. You should
demonstrate the ability able to work effectively and thrive in a
collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment. You will have strong
communication skills, an excellent analytic skill set enjoy working
in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment. You would
typically have a related Masters degree with 0-3 years of
professional experience, or a Bachelors with 2-5 years, or
equivalent experience/combined education. Basic Qualifications •
Experience &/or desire to work with electro-optical sensors
and/or optical systems or lasers • Fluency with MATLAB and/or
Simulink • Software and Lab programming (e.g. Labview, C/C++ or
similar) • US Citizenship with the ability to acquire and maintain
a government security clearance Desired skills • Masters in related
discipline • Experience with control system design and analysis of
laser or directed energy systems. • Exposure to control of optical
systems including adaptive optics, fast steering mirrors, gimbal
systems, jitter/beamwalk controls, target acquisition and tracking.
• Knowledge of multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) controls and
advanced control methods. • Knowledge or experience with real time
implementation of control, real time operating systems, FPGA,
multi-core, and GPU based devices and highly parallel computation.

Ability to work remotely Onsite Full-time: The work associated with
this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed
Martin facility. Work Schedule Information Lockheed Martin supports
a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional
flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40
hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.
These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time
away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off
benefits. Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position
in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major
metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland,
Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is
$93,200 - $164,450. For states not referenced above, the salary
range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work
location. Please note that the salary information is a general
guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not
limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's
work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market
and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits

time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up
to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for
holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated
based on start date during the calendar year. This position is
incentive plan eligible. Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for
this position in most major metropolitan areas in California,
Massachusetts, and New York is $107,300 - $185,840. For states not
referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect
the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary

skills as well as market and business considerations when extending
